Knowledge is Power

I recently spoke to a friend that owns a travel agency. This company specialises in American travel. After speaking for a good half an hour around what they do, how they do it and how they attract their potential clients, I was given their basics: you advertise predominantly on Facebook, your target age demographic is between 23 and 50 year olds, mainly females, people that enjoy travel, and people that have an interest in America. So of course, I am left wondering…. Why have I never seen your business before?
I know that advertising on Facebook can be a bit daunting, especially if you aren’t really sure of what you are doing, but this is just further proof that you need to either invest the time in learning more about Facebook and how you are spending your ad budget. Rather than just pressing any buttons and hoping for the best, why wouldn’t you have someone help you out?
Given that, I (along with eight other members of my family) just came back from New York, and have been to the US before, along with multiple trips internationally…. Why would I not be in your target market? Why wouldn’t you target me with your ads? I would put that down to lack of knowledge and not the right audience insights.
Facebook is always going to be more than happy to take your money, they do not care if you are targeting the right audience or not, and this is where it becomes your responsibility to make sure you are using the best options to attract the right potential clients.
